What is a Headshot?
It is called a headshot because it is head and shoulders and clearly shows your child's face.
Your child's head shots are the most important photos they will take. They are the photos that ultimately get them work. Casting directors will look at that photo (usually for a split second) and make a decision about whether they want your child to audition for their job or not. It is vital that head shots are a true likeness to your child and that their personality shines through the photo.
Photos really must reflect your child's personality for them to be cast in the jobs that are right for them.

Checklist For a Great Photoshoot
- Ensure your child eats and sleeps well the night before the shoot and drinks lots of water in the run up to help keep skin clear from spots.
- Pick Two outfits. No logos, stripes, dots or cartoon characters. One black or white T Shirt with Jeans and one pastel shade or bright. No patterns. Block colours. T- shirts work well. No 'fussy tops' or revealing clothing. Plain bottoms are best. jeans usually look great. Don't forget girls can wear a plain dress.
- Think about hair styling. It is not a good idea to have hair swept across their faces. No long fridges either. Keep hair natural, no huge hair bows or clips. If you have afro hair in bunches or left 'out is great.. For European hair leave out or pigtails can also look super cute. If your boy has long hair tie it back but maybe take a couple with his hair loose too if possible. Don't do a style they would not normally have
- No make up. It's all about seeing your child naturally. Make up is not necessary. If you have a teenager who wants to cover up a blemish speak to your agent about how best to do this. The answer is not plastering on make up.
The best photos happen if your child is relaxed and having fun. Encourage them to enjoy it and your photos will be great!
